Playing Hooky

Growing up in a city
Bathed in perpetual gray,
Seeing a sky so sunny
Calls me to embrace the day.

I shield my eyes from the light
Leaving behind my despair.
Laughing as my car takes flight
Driving with four-sixty air.

As I’m warmed by the sun’s rays,
The tension evaporates.
Burning off despondent haze
A bright afternoon awaits!

Sunny
