Last Friday, I bemoaned my lack of focus. This is not because of anything like ADHD, but simply because I have too many interests. I have decided to take the next few days and highlight a few of my interests from hobbies to things I want to try.
I will start with one of my newer interests: Vinyl Records.
Growing up I listened to my mom’s modest record collection, enjoying albums by Simon & Garfunkel, The Monkees, The Carpenters, John Denver, Herman’s Hermits, and many others. I would use these records to make little radio shows and record them on cassette, or make mix tapes of them. However, at the dawn of the 21st Century I fell into the trap of convenience and went digital.
I rediscovered the joy of vinyl last year when I went to a local record fair. My record collection is still modest, but I’m looking to expand it soon. I even acquired my in-laws’ old stereo system, which is as old as I am. I got the turntable working, but still trying to refurbish the other components.
I’ll be back with more of my interests soon. Until then, share some music with someone you love!
